ART LOS ANGELES CONTEMPORARY
THE BARKER HANGER
Experimental composers William Basinski and M. Geddes Gengras perform live at the ALAC Theatre.
Basinski will perform new sound work that incorporates his use of analog and obsolete recording technologies. He is best known for his 2003 release The Disintegration Loops made from an extensive archive of tape recordings in varying stages of degradation. His work has been performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the 54th Venice Biennale and the Whitney Museum of Art.
Gengras is a Los Angeles-based musician known for his mastery of analog and modular synthesizers, using these and more modern methods to create novel new age meditations and sonic abstractions that openly refer to previous eras of electronic music.
The performance is organized by Tim Leanse.
